Interface programme with Planters on Integrated Nutrient Management in Coffee based cropping system at ICAR KVK Gonikoppal (ICAR-IIHR)
ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonikoppal in association with Yara India limited organized an Interface programme on Integrated Nutrient management in Coffee & Black pepper at KVK Gonikoppal on 16th March 2017. Sixty three planters, extension personal and rural youth participated in the programme.
The main aim of the programme was to create awareness among the Planter community about Scientific Integrated Nutrient Management practices and its importance in coffee based pepper cropping system. In the beginning, Shri Veerendra Kumar, K.V. SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Gonikoppal welcomed the dignitaries and planters to the programme and highlighted about the objectives of the programme. Shri. Ajith Aiyappa, Proprietor, KC Mandanna & Co, Gonikoppal inaugurated the programme and in his remarks requested the participants to utilize the services given by KVK, Gonikoppal and Yara India, for enhancing the production and quality of coffee and Black pepper. Shri Prabhakar SMS(Horticulture), KVK Gonikoppal briefed about the general nutrition management practices followed in Coffee and Black pepper with reference to Kodagu District and also explained about the soil test based recommendations from KVK. Dr. Sanjeev Thanvar, Assistant General Manager, Yara India Ltd, highlighted the nutrition requirement of coffee and its management. Dr. Binay Parida, Agronomist, Yara India explained about the mechanism involved in uptake of nutrients in coffee and pepper and how to get higher efficacy for applied nutrition. The planters actively participated and involved in the interaction programme.
