Research Accomplishments: 

• Conducted residue study and recommended pre-harvest interval of pesticides on horticultural crops for protection of human health due to excess pesticide residues in food. • Conducted residue study on post-harvest residue management of pesticides on mango and recommended safe pesticides for post-harvest treatment. • Data generated by conducting supervised field trials on a large no of new pesticides for “Registration of new pesticides for use in the country under Section 9(3) of the Insecticide Act, 1968. • Data generated on deemed registered pesticides for maximum residue limit (MRL) fixation • Biodegradation of persistent pesticide like hexacholorocyclohexane (HCH) was achieved using Pleurotus species in collaboration with Mushroom Laboratory. • Food and environmental samples consisting of fruits, vegetables, cereals and pulses, milk, butter and water were collected from Karnataka State and pesticide residue levels were estimated. The total no of samples analyzed from 2006 onwards is 4280. • As the Quality and Technical Manager established a system in the laboratory and obtained accreditation from National Accreditation Board of Testing Laboratories (NABL), Department of Science and Technology as per ISO/IEC 17025:2005. • Helped Export Oriented Units by analyzing pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables meant for export

Technology/Methodologies Developed 1. Development of analytical method for analysis of flubendiamide residues in tomato. (Published in Journal of Environmental Science and Health, part B). 2. Development of analytical method for analysis of spirotetramat residues in mango (Published in Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology) 3. Several multiresidue methods were developed on GLC, GC-MS and HPLC and used in the laboratory for pesticide residue analysis in food commodities. 4. Recommendation of safe pre-harvest interval/ waiting period of pesticides on fruits and vegetables.
