ICAR-IIHR-Participated in the “Horticulture Fair-2017” at University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, Karnataka from December 22-24, 2017
ICAR-IIHR participated in the Horticulture Fair-2017 organized by University of Horticultural Sciences, during 22 to 24 December 2017 in Bagalkot, Karnataka. Sri. H. Y. Meti, MLA, Bagalkot inaugurated the Horticulture fair-2017 in the presence of Smt. Veena Kashappanavara, Zilla Panchayat, Bagalkot, Dr. D. L. Maheshwar, Vice Chancellor of UAS and several other distinguished guests. During the three-day Horticulture Fair-2017 on the theme “Skillful entrepreneurship in Horticulture-Manifesto for the future”, stalls were put up by different organizations to give information to the farmers and technologies were demonstrated in the field of Horticulture and other allied activities.
Selected technologies of ICAR-IIHR were also displayed during the exhibition. Fresh samples of fruit, vegetable, ornamental varieties and various products of microbial cultures, plant protection formulations, harvesting equipments, pheromone traps, planting materials, published extension literature, vegetable seed kits and dehydrated and fruit and vegetable products were displayed during the exhibition.
Thousands of farmers, officials and other stakeholders visited the Stall and showed keen interest in fruit and vegetable dehydration technologies. Scope for Tomato variety Arka Rakshak and Arka Sahan cultivation in the region was prominently observed. The participation of ICAR-IIHR in the exhibition was coordinated by Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist (Hort.), Division of Social Sciences and Training, and his team was comprising of Dr. T. M. Reddy, Scientist (SS), Mr. Nagappa, ACTO, Division of social sciences and Training and Mr. G. M. Prasanth Kumar, Technical officer, Division of vegetable crops of ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore.
