For young orchards of mango and sapota, growing ragi alone or ragi along with dolichos gives an additional income upto Rs.10,000-12,000/ha. to the farmers and also increases soil fertility. Ragi as subsistence crop provides food security to the household of the farmer and dolichos as a commercial pulse crop, which provides income security to the farmers.
