Prof. Rabindra K. Panda, Dean (R&D), IIT Bhubaneswar delivered Third ICAR-IIHR Golden Jubilee Lecture at CHES, Bhubaneswar
The Third ICAR-IIHR Golden Jubilee Lecture at Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Bhubaneswar was delivered by Prof. Rabindra Kumar Panda, Dean (R&D), Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar on August 23, 2017. Prof. Panda delivered his talk on "Improving Agricultural Water Use Efficiency through Real-Time IT-Based Monitoring and Decision Making at Watershed Scale". During the lecture, he outlined the strategies for improving agricultural water use efficiency using state-of-the-art IT-based techniques and Mobile App-based decision support system. He highlighted the application of recent tools in exploring the status of ground water avalability in the Mahanadi basin areas of Odisha. Prof. Panda's intuitive lecture was followed by lively interactions by the Scientists and Research Scholars present in the distinguished audience. Scientists from CHES (Bhubaneswar), Regional Centre of ICAR-CTCRI (Bhubaneswar), ICAR-NRRI (Cuttack) and ICAR-IIWM (Bhubaneswar) garced the occasion. Research Scholars from IIT Bhubaneswar, RPRC Bhubaneswar and technical staff of CHES and RC-CTCRI also participated in the lecture.
Dr. G. C. Acharya, Head I/c welcomed Prof. Panda and other guests and briefed about the R&D activities of the Centre. After the lecture, Prof. Panda visited the experimental plots of mango trellising, dragon fruit and pineapple intercropping in mango orchards. He was highly fascinated with the dragon fruits.
Dr. Sudhamoy Mandal, Principal Scientist and Convener of ICAR-IIHR Golden Jubilee Lecture Series at CHES, Bhubaneswar organized the Third Golden Jubilee Lecture as part of commemoration of ICAR-IIHR Golden Jubilee during 2016-17.
