Research Accomplishments: 

(During the Period of 2019-2023)

 

  1. Developed polyploidy induction protocol for induction of polyploidy in the medicinal herb Centella asiatica
  2. Registered two elite lines of Centella asiatica (IIHR-CA-13 and IIHR-CA-1) with ICAR-NBPGR for higher asiaticoside content and higher biomass yield respectively
  3. Developed DNA fingerprint for the released varieties of Centella asiatica viz., Arka Divya and Arka Prabhavi and Ashwagandha variety Arka Ashwagandha using SSR markers
  4. Standardized seed germination protocol for Centella asiatica and Gymnema sylvestre
  5. Cryopreservation and micropropagation protocol developed for economically important Citrus species viz., Citrus sinensis and Citrus jambhiri
  6. Collected and characterized germplasm accessions of Centella asiatica and Gymnema sylvestre across the agroclimatic zones
  7. Standardized the in vivo propagation method for the propagation of Gymnema sylvestre via hardwood cuttings
  8. Studied the influence of water stress on yield and metabolite content in Centella asiatica
  9. Hydroponic cultivation of mint and brahmi
  10. Conducted the State Farm trials of Arka Divya and Arka Prabhavi varieties of C. asiatica facilitating the release of two varieties for Karnataka State
  11. Multilocation trial of Ashwagandha and Centella asiatica under AICRP on Medicinal Crops and Betelvine
  12. Involved in conducting and co-ordinating training programmes on Horticultural biodiversity conservation, conservation and cultivation of medicinal plants for the scientists, students and other stakeholders
