My research is Postharvest management and value addition of cut flowers and foliages. The accomplishments are enhancement of shelf life and vase life of commercial & new varieties and hybrids of cut flowers of rose, chrysanthemum, gerbera, gladiolus, carnation ,aster, tuberose, anthurium and orchid. Maximum shelf life and vase life of 2-5 days was obtained over control in the above flowers by harvesting at optimum harvest stage ,suitable packaging and low temperature storage. Pulsing and vase solution of chemical floral preservatives have been evaluated and found beneficial in enhancing vase life of the above cut flowers. Shelf life enhancement and discolouration in Jasminum sambac and floret shedding in garland chrysanthemum flowers have been achieved through optimum harvest stage , packaging and low temperature storage. Value addition through dehydration has been achieved in Helichrysum, Gomphrena, chrysanthemum, rose, antirrhinum ,carnation, celosia ,orchids, cosmos, cone flowers and silver oak, casuarinas and fern foliage. Research on Genetic improvement of anthurium. Guided in research of ten M.Sc. Horticulture students.
