24th Research Advisory Committee (RAC) Meeting was held at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR)

ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) has    organized 24th Research Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting during November 27-28, 2018. The RAC Meeting was organized under the Chairmanship of Prof. Goutham G Kalloo, former DDG (Hort.). Dr SN Pandey, Former ADG (Hort.), Dr Pritam Kalia, Former Head, Division of Vegetables, ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, Dr TP Rajendran, Former ADG (Pt. Protection), Dr GD Joshi, Former Dean (Agriculture), KKV, Dapoli, Ratnagiri, Dr Sreenath Dixit, Head, IDC, ICRISAT and T Janakiram ADG (Hort, Sci.) and MR Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IIHR are the members. Dr E Srinivasa Rao, Principal Scientist, Div. of Vegetable Crops is the Member Secretary.

On 27.11.2018, the RAC team visited selected fields at ICAR-IIHR such as tomato wild species for Tuta resistance, new variety of Crossandra, Light trap for Tuta control, coloured seedless grapes on Dogridge and chilli field. The RAC started with welcome address by Dr E Srinivasa Rao. The Chairman and Members RAC shared their views and suggested strategies towards planning and implementation of need-based research programmes. Then, Dr MR Dinesh presented about significant achievements of the institute. His presentation was followed by that of Dr CK Narayana, Chairman, PME Cell, who presented about the Action Taken Report of recommendations of 23rd RAC. In the afternoon, there were break-out sessions, during which the RAC Chairman and members reviewed the work done by the scientists of various divisions of ICAR-IIHR. The RAC team visited the fields such as marigold and polyhouse cultivation of IIHR rose variety Arka Swadesh for export of ICAR-IIHR at Doddaballapur in the evening.

On 28.11.2018, the RAC team visited demonstration plot of MGMG village Shivkotte on Arka Savi rose variety. The field visit was followed by presentations by the Heads of the Divisions of ICAR-IIHR on future line of work and the recommendations that were emanated from the break-out sessions. During the plenary session, ADG, ICAR offered his closing remarks, which was followed by remarks by the Chairman and Members of the RAC. The inputs from all the presentations and remarks will be finalized as the recommendations of the 24th RAC. The RAC meeting came to an end with the formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr CK Narayana, Chairman, PME Cell, ICAR-IIHR.
