42nd foundation day celebrations of CHES, Chettalli on 1st February 2014
CHES, Chettalli formerly Orange Research Station, Chettalli was taken over by Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore on 1st February 1972. On successful completion of 42 years of its existence under IIHR, the station celebrated its 42st Foundation day on 1st February 2014 at CHES, Chettalli. Dr S.D. Doijode Principal Scientist &Head, Division of Extension Education, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore was chief guest at this occasion. Progressive growers of Kodagu, working and retired staff of CHES and staff of K VK Gonikoppal participated in the celebrations. Among the prominent invitees Shri Bose Mandanna, Ex-vice President Coffee Board, Dr. Ramamurthy, Deputy Director of Research, Central Coffee Research Sub Station, Chettalli, Major Devaiah, Smt K.T. Devaiah, Sri Ponnappa were present on the occasion. Dr. V. Sankar, Senior Scientist (Hort.), CHES, Chettalli welcomed the gathering and dignitaries. Dr. P.C. Tripathi, Head of the Station briefed about achievements of last one years and future activities of the station. Five retired employees of CHES namely Shri. M.M. Bollappa, Sri K.K. Prabhakar, Sri Thirumalswamy, Sri P. Raju and Smt R. Chinnamma were felicitated on the occasion. The progressive growers highlighted the importance of the station for the benefits of the growers. Sri Bose Madanna shared role of CHES & IIHR in encouraging him in Bee keeping and vegetable cultivation. Major Devaiah remembered his association and emotional attachment of the station. Dr. S.D. Doijode Principal Scientist &Head IIHR, Bangalore expressed happiness over the programme and activities of the station. He assured full support for the development of the station and fulfill the requirement of the growers of the region. Earlier The Agricultural Technology information Centre was inaugurated By Dr S.D. Doijode in the presence dignitaries and progressive growers. He expressed that the Centre will be helpful in providing IIHR technologies and products to the growers. Dr T.M Reddy explained about the future activities of the ATIC of CHES Chettalli. An exhibition was also arranged at this occasion. At the end Smt Jayanthimala Scientist (entom.) presented vote of thanks.
