Awareness on Swachhta in Kasaghattapura village (Non-adopted) on 24.12.2018
A “Swachhta Awareness Programme” was organized at Kasaghattapura village of Hesaraghatta Hobli in Bangalore North taluk. The programme was presided over by Sri Hanumantharayappa, President Kasaghattapura panchayat. Dr. T.M. Manjunatha, Principal Scientist and HOD, Division of Ornamental and Medicinal crops in his introductory remarks, explained about the importance of following sanitation in villages. Dr. Mandakrantha Bhattacharya, Medical Officer, ICAR-IIHR, explained about human hygiene for the benefit of farm women and children. Dr. Selvakumar, Principal Scientist explained importance of soil health and steps involved in the preparation of compost by utilizing farm waste. Dr. P.Shivarama Bhat, Principal Scientist and HOD, Division of Entomology and Nematology explained about eco-friendly pest management and importance of neem soap/pongamia soap and bio-pesticides. Mr. Venkatesh, PDO, President Kasaghattapura panchayat promised that necessary steps will be taken to bring more awareness on sanitation at village level. Dr. Smitha and Dr. Sumangala from the Division of Ornamental and Medicinal crops co-ordinated the programme. Nearly 100 farmers, farm women and village youth participated in the programme.
An awareness programme on Swachhta was arranged for the farmers at CHES, Chettalli.
