CHES (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar observed 5th International Day of Yoga
Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar observed the 5th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2019 in its office premises. On the occasion, a yoga demonstration and training programme was organised in which the staff and outsourcing personnel participated in the programme and learned about the beneficial effects of yoga on one’s physical, mental and intellectual well being. The programme was inaugurated by the Head of the Station Dr. G. C. Acharya, who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of International Day of Yoga being celebrated world over. Yoga expert Sri Kashi Bishwanath ji demonstrated different Pranayams and yogasansas and enlightened the gathering about benefits of different Yoga postures for management of various physical and lifestyle diseases. He demonstrated various Pranayamas like Bhastrika, Ujjaini, anulom vilom, kapalbhati, uddyaan bandh etc. along with specific hast mudras. They also demonstrated sookshm vyayams and other basic yogic postures like tadasan, pashchimottanasan, mandukasan, vajrasan, etc. He also offered yogic solutions to different queries of the participants. He agreed to the suggestions of organising yoga camps in near future in the campus. The staff members followed the instructions of the yoga teacher and performed various yogasanas. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. P. Srinivas, Principal Scientist with the help of Smt Annapurna Behera, Assistant and other staff members.
