CHES (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar, participated in an exhibition organised on World Kitchen Garden Day
Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar participated in an exhibition organized by Kitchen Gardeners’ Association, Bhubaneswar in the premises of state quality control laboratory, Bhubaneswar to celebrate “World Kitchen Garden Day on 26th August, 2018. In the inaugural programme distinguished personalities like Shri. P.C. Choubey, Executive Director, IOCL, Prof. Radhamohan, Environmentalist, Dr. S. N. Behera Ex. Director of Horticulture, Mr. Anoop Kumar, Gr. Manager, NABARD, Dr. A.S. Rajput, Regional Director, Regional centre for organic farming and many other noted personalities deliberated on the importance of Kitchen gardens in view of getting healthy vegetables as well as fruits in urban areas for own family consumption. Many city farmers, roof top gardeners and consumers eagerly participated in the interaction session held with experts. In the exhibition, CHES (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar displayed horticultural technologies as well as live samples of fruits and vegetables including grafted brinjal seedlings reported to be resistant to bacterial wilt. There was a very good response to the stall for the planting material of cucurbitaceous vegetables like ivy gourd, pointed gourd and spine gourd especially for the varieties developed from CHES, Bhubaneswar. The exhibition was coordinated by Dr. G. Sangeetha, Principal scientist with the help of Sh. A. Kanhar, Technical Assistant and Sh.G. Ranasingh,SSS.
