Dental health awareness cum Check up camp organised at CHES (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar
A free ‘dental health awareness programme cum check up camp’ was organised on 21st April 2017, at Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar for the benefit of the staff, trainees, filed and farm workers. The Camp was organised in association with the resource persons from “Bibhuti Bhushan Memorial Dental Hospital and Research Centre (BBMDH&RC), Jaydev vihar, Bhubaneswar, which is empanelled under CGHS.
Dr. H. S. Singh, Head of the Station, welcomed the resource persons from BBMDH&RC, Staff and other participants to the camp. While addressing the audience he highlighted the problem of dental health negligence among the majority of the population of all age groups. He also emphasised upon the relation between good oral hygiene with various other ailments in other parts of the body. Dr. Malay Swain, BDS, described the issues related to the dental problems and how to manage them by regular brushing, avoiding unhealthy lifestyle and balanced nutrition. He called upon the staff to take benefit of the specialised dental health facilities at BBMDH&RC at CGHS rates.
During the dental check-up session more than 40 persons including Scientists, Technical staff, Supporting staff, apprentice trainees, contractual staff, field labourers got their teeth checked up. The doctors thoroughly checked the participants, diagnosed and prescribed further treatment and medications on case by case basis. The resource persons from BBMDH&RC informed that free treatment facility to the contractual staff and field workers enrolled under the ESI scheme can be provided with due referral from ESI hospital. Dr. P Srinivas, Senior Scientist and In-charge, Staff Welfare Committee, and proposing vote of thanks and coordinated the programme.
