HANDS ON TRAINING ON ADVANCES IN PESTICIDE RESIDUE ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES
Training on Advances in Pesticide Residue Analytical Techniques
Food Safety Referral Lab, Division of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry in collaboration with Thermo Fischer Scientific Pvt. Ltd. organized a 4-day Hands-on Training on “Advances in Pesticide Residue Analytical Techniques” during 16-19 January 2019. The paid training programme was inaugurated by Dr. M.R. Dinesh, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru. A total of four scientists and Asst. Professors of different Institutes / universities from three states attended the training programme. During the inaugural program, Dr. M.R. Dinesh elaborated on the requirement of research in pesticide residue analysis to ensure safe production of horticultural commodities. He emphasized on more such involvement of private industries in training and research programmes in future. Dr. C.K. Narayana, In-charge, PME Cell enlightened participants about the importance of quality control in a monitoring system.
During the training programme, trainees were acquainted with a wide range of topics e.g. sampling, sample preparation, instrumentation, method validation, reference standard preparation, multi-residue analysis and single residue analytical techniques for determination of pesticide residues. Hands on practical training was also given on all the above aspects by Dr. Debi Sharma and Dr. Partha Pratim Choudhury from ICAR-IIHR and Mr. Sunil Kumar from Thermo Fisher Scientific. Mrs Jyothi V Divakara, Ms. Divya, Ms. Manjula, Ms. Vatsalya and Ms. Sowmiya also helped impart hands on training to the participants. At the end of the program, all participants expressed their satisfaction with the program and expressed their confidence in utilising new knowledge gained from the training course.
