BSF Jawans receive training in horticulture from ICAR-IIHR

ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru has organized a four-day training program for Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from the Center for Electronics and Digital Communication (CEDC) at AFS Yelahanka, Bangalore, from 14th-17th June 2022. They were trained mainly to address the needs of their institute situated on 67 acres with a variety of fruit gardens, including coconut, mango, tamarind, rose and other flower species. Six BSF personnel were trained in compost preparation, soilless gardening, plant propagation, and nursery management techniques, and general crop protection measures. A combination of theory and hands-on practice was included in the training course. Dr. Debi Sharma, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, presided over the conclusion of the training program on 17th June 2022. Shri. Rajiv Kumar Basra, BSF Commandant, and Shri. Harshit Tanwar, Assistant Commandant, BSF graced the occasion. These four days have been an invaluable opportunity for the BSF trainees to gain practical exposure and hands-on experience on days of training.
