ICAR-IIHR organized Consultative Workshop with Department of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka for Promotion of IIHR technologies
ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) organized a Consultative Workshop with Department of Horticulture (DoH), Government of Karnataka (GoK) on 29.6.2019. The purpose was to disseminate ICAR-IIHR technologies through DoH. Officials (20) of DoH from Bengaluru and Mysuru Division participated in the programme.
The consultative workshop started with ICAR and IIHR songs. Dr R Venkattakumar, Principal Scientist and Head, Division of Social Sciences and Training extended a warm welcome. Then there was a display of video of National Horticultural Fair 2019. Dr MR Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IIHR in his introductory remarks emphasized that IIHR is committed to disseminate the technologies to the farmers and sought the cooperation from the DoH for such dissemination. Dr MV Venkatesh in his remarks opined that the technologies from lab should reach the farmers, for which the DoH will extend its support and cooperation to ICAR-IIHR.
Then, there were presentations from the Heads of the Divisions of ICAR-IIHR. Dr BL Manjunath, Head In charge, Division of Fruit Crops presented about fruit crop technologies for higher productivity. Dr AT Sadashiva, Head, Division of Vegetable Crops and Dr TM Rao, Head, Division of Floriculture and Medicinal Crops presented about new varieties and technologies for year round production of vegetables and ornamental crops. Dr HS Oberoi, Head, Division of Post Harvest Technology and Agricultural Engineering presented about value added products and farm machinery. Dr HB Raghupathi, Head, Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry and Dr RH Laxman, Physiology, Division of Physiology and Biochemistry presented technologies for enhancing resource-use efficiency and amelioration of physiological disorders. Dr PS Bhat, Head, Division of Entomology and Nematology presented about innovative plant protection technologies. Dr HC Prasanna presented about commercializable technologies of ICAR-IIHR. Then, there was a display of success stories on IIHR technologies.
The presentations were followed by the expectations from the Joint Directors and Deputy Directors of Horticulture. Dr B Narayanaswamy, Principal Scientist proposed a formal vote of thanks.
