ICAR-IIHR organized a Special Training Programme for the Extension officials of SAMETI Sponsored by Government of Tamil Nadu
ICAR-IIHR organized a special training programme on "Organic cultivation of Horticultural crops” for the Extension officials of SAMETI sponsored by Department of Horticulture, Government of Tamil Nadu. It was held during October 29-31, 2018; twenty Horticulture officers from different parts of Tamil Nadu were the participants.
During the three-day deliberations, participants were imparted knowledge and skills on fruit crops, medicinal crop production technologies, vegetable cultivation; seed and planting material production for organic cultivation and nursery management, bio-control of pest and disease & nutrient management and technologies for organic cultivation and post-harvest technologies.
The lectures were interspersed with field visits to demonstration blocks of fruits and ornamental demonstration blocks, seed production unit. Exposure visits were also arranged to Ekalavya vegetable and ornamental nursery, KVK-Hirehalli , CHES, Hirehalli and organic outlets unit, Bangalore. Moreover, literature and soft copy of training materials and power point presentations were distributed to all the participants. Dr Prakash Patil, Project Coordinator AICRP on Fruits, ICAR-IIHR, Chaired the valedictory function and distributed certificates. The trainees were very much satisfied with the programme and opined that have learnt many new scientific management practices to implement in real farm situation. This programme was coordinated Dr.R.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist and Dr.V.Sankar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Science, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore.
