ICAR-IIHR organized a Special training programme on "Improved technologies (Production, Postharvest & Marketing)" for FPO members of Chamrajnagar District, Karnataka.
ICAR-IIHR organized a special training programme on crop identified for "Improved technologies (Production, Postharvest & Marketing)" under KWDP-II, Sujala-III for Chamrajnagar District farmers and sponsored by Department of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka. It was held during August 21-25, 2018. Thirty two farmers from farmers producing organizations (FPO) were the participants.
During the five-day deliberations, participants were imparted knowledge and skills on fruit crops, mushroom ready to fruit bag production, ornamental crop production technologies, vegetable cultivation; seed and planting material production for commercial cultivation and nursery management, integrated pest, disease & nutrient management and technologies for commercial /agri-business avenues, business avenues in post-harvest technologies and ventures for custom hiring centers, process and benefits of licensing technologies etc.
The lectures were interspersed with field visits to demonstration blocks of fruits and ornamental demonstration blocks, seed production units. Exposure visits were also arranged to Ekalavya vegetable and ornamental nursery; CHES, KVK Hirahalli, and GKVK campus etc. Literature and inputs such as, Hand book of Horticultural Crops, banana special and vegetable special nutrients @ 2 kg each were distributed to all the participants.
Dr Prakash Patil, Project Coordinator (Fruits), ICAR-IIHR chaired the valedictory function and distributed certificate, inputs. The trainees were very much satisfied with the programme and opined they have learnt many new scientific management practices to implement in real farm situations. This programme was coordinated by Dr.R.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist and Dr.T.M.Reddy, Senior Scientist, Division of Social Science, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore.
