ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research is celebrating it’s Golden Jubilee during 2016-17. The institute has grown from a small Fruit Research Station of erstwhile Karnataka State Horticulture Department to an institution of global reputation. The institute is playing a vital role in the development of technologies and capacity building in horticulture in India over the last 50 years. The institute has developed more than 200 high yielding varieties, sustainable and profitable integrated crop production and protection systems including organic farming, protected cultivation, INM, IPM, IDM protocols, mechanization and value addition. Some of these varieties and production technologies have revolutionized the horticultural industry not only in India but also in several third world countries, which has made this institute to be one of the harbingers for horticulture revolution. Each and every staff member of the institute both retired/past and present employees of institute have played an important role for building this institute. To commemorate the golden jubilee of the institute, series of programmes will be organized between Sept 6th, 2016 to Sept 5th , 2017.
