Central Horticultural Experimental Station (CHES), ICAR-Indian Institute Horticultural Research (IIHR), The Regional Centre of ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), and DBT-Institute of Life Science (ILS), Bhubaneswar jointly organized a five-day ‘Capacity building training programme on production and post-harvest technology in horticultural and tuber crops’ for the farmers of Koraput and Nabarangpur district of Odisha from 16.01.2023 to 20.01.2023 under DBT-Biotech-Kisan project. Chief Guest Dr. N.K. Krishna Kumar, Ex DDG (Hort.), ICAR, Bangalore inaugurated the training programme in presence of Guest of Honour Dr. Archana Mukherjee, Ex Director, ICAR-CTCRI, Bhubaneswar. Dr. K. Laxminarayana, Head, RC of ICAR-CTCRI. Dr. Rajeev Sawin., PI of DBT-ILS and staffs & participants. Dr. G.C. Acharya, PS, CHES &Co-PI and Dr. M. Nedunchezhiyan,PS, RCCTCRI & Co-PI of the DBT-Biotech-Kisan project briefed about the project activities. In the technical session, Dr. N.K. Krishna Kumar, Dr. Archana Mukherjee, Dr. M.N. Sheela (Director, ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram), Dr. M. Nedunchezhiyan, Dr. G.C. Acharya, Dr. Kalidas Pati, Dr. Manas Sahu delivered lectures as well as practical training in Techno Incubation Centre (TIC) of RC of ICAR-CTCRI, Farm and Laboratory and farm at CHES-ICAR-CTCRI. Fried chips, flour, pasta, noodles, extruded products (Kurkure), cake, save, Kantia production from cassava and sweet potato were demonstrated to the trainees at TIC. Demonstration and training on improved agro-techniques, irrigation system, mixed cropping system, planting material production of root & tuber crops and horticultural crops were also imparted to participants.
