ICAR-IIHR participated in the Patna Aam Mahotsav 2022

ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research to display IIHR mango varieties and latest technologies, participated in the Aam Mahotsav (Mango Festival) organized by the Directorate of Horticulture, Department of Agricultural Patna Bihar from 24-26 June 2022 held at Gyan Bhavan, Gandhi Maidan, Patna. In this event, ICAR-IIHR showcased its new mango hybrids, processed products and other mango-related technologies through live specimens, products and display through charts.  During the exhibition, more than 5,000 farmers and other stakeholders visited the ICAR-IIHR stall during the period.

The farmers who visited the ICAR-IIHR stall interacted with the scientists and technicians and learnt about the latest mango varieties, processed products, and other production-related technologies. Two Principal Scientists of ICAR-IIHR and one Technical Officer (from CHES, Bhubaneswar) participated in the exhibition during the 3-day mango event. The live specimens and materials of ICAR-IIHR including that of the regional station, CHES Bhubaneswar draw attraction from the visitors.

The Aam Mahotsav started on 24th June 2022 with the display of exhibits and its inauguration was done on 25th June 2022 by Shri Amrendra Pratap Singh, Hon’ble Minister of  Agriculture  Government of Bihar, who also visited ICAR-IIHR stall along with other state officials.

During the event, almost 150 varieties of mango and other value-added products with about 1500 entries were on display at the Aam Mahotsav. Dr R. B. Tiwari, Principal Scientist participated in judging the varieties as well as delivered a lecture in Hindi on the value addition of mango during the technical session conducted on 26.06.2022 at the venue. Dr R. Senthil Kumar also interacted with farmers and answered various questions about the production technologies of mango.   The programme was coordinated by Dr R. B. Tiwari Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training.
