Capacity building programme on ICAR-IIHR technologies to the farmers of Kodagu and Udupi district under RKVY project

A capacity building programme on ICAR-IIHR technologies for Kodagu farmers was organized under RKVY project at Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Chettalli on 09.02.2022. Dr. S. Rajendran, Scientist, CHES Chettalli delivered the welcome address. Dr. R. Venkattakumar, Head, Division of Social sciences and Training informed the gathering about RKVY project and its importance. Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training delivered lecture on important vegetable varieties, hybrids and technologies developed by ICAR-IIHR suitable for Kodagu region and Dr. R.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training delivered lecture on important fruit varieties released by ICAR-IIHR suitable for Kodagu region. At the end, the farmers were interacted with scientists and cleared all the doubts. Mr. B. M. Muralidhar, Scientist, CHES Chettalli  proposed vote of thanks to the gathering and arranged field visit. After field visit, Avocado (Arka Supreme) and Black Pepper (Arka Coorg Excel) were distributed to the beneficiaries. This programe was attended by more than20 farmers of Kodagu district and staff of CHES, Chettalli.

A capacity building programme on Arka Vegetable Special and Arka Microbial Consortium in GI tagged Mattu gulla brinjal was organized at Mattu Gulla Growers’ Society of Mattu village of Udupi district on 10.02.2022. A lecture on importance of RKVY project and IIHR technologies for Udupi farmers was delivered by Dr. R. Venkattakumar, Head, Division of Social Sciences and Training. Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training explained about the importance of Arka Vegetable Special in Mattu gulla brinjal. Dr. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training explained about the importance of Arka Microbial Consortium in Mattu gulla brinjal. The secretary of Mattu gulla Belegarara Sangha, Mr. Lakshman delivered vote of thanks and arranged brinjal field visit in  around Mattu village. Around 20 Mattu gulla growers attended the programme. At the end of progarmme,  Arka vegetable special micro nutrients were distributed to all the beneficiaries.

A capacity building programme on ICAR-IIHR technologies for Udupi farmers was organized under RKVY project at KVK Brahmavara, Udupi  District on 11.02.2022. Dr. B. Dhananjaya, Head and Programme Coordinator, KVK Brahmavara extended warm welcome to the gathering. Dr. R. Venkattakumar, Head, Division of Social Sciences and Training enlightened the gathering about the importance of RKVY project. Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training explained about  important vegetable varieties and hybrids developed by ICAR-IIHR  which are suitable to grow for Udupi region and Dr. R.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training delivered lecture on important fruit varieties released by ICAR-IIHR suitable for Udupi region. This was followed by a detailed discussion of farmers with IIHR scientists and KVK staff. Dr.Chethan, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) delivered vote of thanks. At the end of the programme, Arka Vegetable Special and French bean (Arka Sukomal) seeds were distributed to the beneficiaries.

Simultaneously , input distribution was also held under SESP programme in all the places. IIHR inputs like vegetable seeds like French bean (Arka Sukomal), Palak (Arka Anupama),Water melon (Arka Shyama)  and Amaranthus (Arka Suguna) were also distributed to SC beneficiaries of Kodagu and Udupi district. The whole progarmme was coordinated by Dr.V.Sankar, Dr.R.Senthil kumar and Dr.R.Venkattakumar of  Division of Social Sciences and Training ,ICAR-IIHR, Bengalore.
