Officers of Kerala were Trained on Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Horticulture
The Division of Extension and Training organized a special training programme for the extension personnel of Department of Agriculture, Government of Kerala under Kerala Horticultural Mission from January 19-24, 2015. 'Integrated pest and disease management in horticultural crops of Kerala' was the theme of the training. The experienced scientists of concerned subject matter shared their research experiences with the participants.
Twenty five officials from 12 districts of Kerala were imparted knowledge and skill on advanced integrated pest and disease management practices through lecture-cum-interaction, visits to the laboratories, experimental and demonstration plots at ICAR-IIHR, model nursery units of private entrepreneurs and fields of progressive farmers. The participants were provided with both hard as well soft copies of structured resource material and relevant publications of ICAR-IIHR.
The participants felt that the programme was very much useful, so that they can effectively disseminate the advanced pest and disease management practices to the farmers of their regions. The pre and post evaluation towards knowledge level of the participants indicated that the programme was significantly effective in imparting knowledge on the theme. Dr H Ravishankar, Dr B Narayanaswamy, Principal Scientists and Dr R Venkattakumar, Principal Scientist and Head, Division of Extension and Training coordinated the programme.
