One day exposure cum training programme on ICAR-IIHR technologies to the farmers of Gopalapura, Kolvarayanhalli and Hessrgahatta on 09.05.2019
One day exposure cum training programme on ICAR-IIHR technologies to the Gopalapura, Kolvarayanhalli and Hesaraghatta village farmers on 09.05.2019 on 02.05.2018 was organized at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR),Bangalore. The objective of the programme was to impart training on advances in ICAR-IIHR technologies of various horticultural crops and improved vegetable/fruits varieties/hybrids/IPM technologies so that such technologies may be disseminated for adoption by farmers of above villages. The programme was started with welcome address by Dr.K.Achala Paripurna, Senior Scientist. Dr R.Venkattakumar, Principal Scientist and Head, Division of Social Sciences and Training, IIHR emphasized the objectives of the training programme and further activities to be carried out at their village. Further he conveyed to the all farmers that always ICAR-IIHR will be associated with farmers for transfer of latest information and technologies to improve the standard of living by doubling the farm income. Dr.C.Aswath, Principal Scientist explained about ICAR-IIHR flower crop technologies to the farmers for sustaiable income. Dr.V.Sankar, Principal Scientist delivered the lecture on improved vegetable varieties and technologies developed by IIHR. Dr.R.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist elaborated the fruit crops cultivation practices. Dr.K.Achala Paripurna highlighted the IPM technologies developed by ICAR-IIHR for various horticultural crops. Dr.S.Bhuvaneswari, Principal Scientist explained about IIHR post harvest harvest technologies including value addition in fruits and vegteables to the farmers.
At the end of programme, participants expressed their views, doubts and queries related to fruits, vegetables, IPM and mushroom cultivation and doubts were cleared by the scientists. At the end of training programme, farmers were taken to vegetables, flowers and fruit crops demonstration blocks. The farmers were very much satisfied with the programme and opined that have got exposed to various scientific management practices to implement in actual farm situation. The programme was ended with vote of thanks. This programme was coordinated by Dr K.Achala Paripurna, Senior Scientist and Dr V Sankar and Dr.R.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore. More than 20 farmers of Gopalapura, Kolvarayanhalli and Hesaraghatta villages attended this programme.
