Rose Varieties were Released During the National Horticultural Fair 2019
"Arka Sharmeeli, Arka Kinnari and Arka Sinchana" were the three rose varieties, which were released during the valedictory programme of the National Horticultural Fair 2019 organized by ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR).
"Marketing of information about varieties and technologies is the need of the day to double the farmers income" said Shri. S. R. Viswanath, Hon'ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Yelahanka Constituency, after releasing the rose varieties during the valedictory programme of the National Horticultural Fair 2019. He also called upon the scientists to work on the traditional wisdom in horticulture. Dr TS Aghora, Organizing Secretary of the fair, informed that 120 varieties of 40 crops were demonstrated during the three-day event and added that there were 158 exhibition stalls arranged for the benefit of the visitors.
Dr MR Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IIHR explained that the institute is involved in many activities, including the unique seed production programme to disseminate the technologies to the farmers of not only Karnataka but also of various states of the country. He also added that ICAR-IIHR is developing many entrepreneurs through value added products and other technologies. Dr DL Maheshwar, Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Horticultural Sciences appreciated the efforts of Dr MR Dinesh and his colleagues in organizing a such a fair with very appropriate theme i.e. 'horticulture for rural prosperity'. He opined that the technologies demonstrated have the potential to double the income of farmers.
Dr C Premnath, Former ADG, FAO, during his address informed that he is very happy to see the developments that have happened in ICAR-IIHR and the initiatives of ICAR-IIHR to disseminate its technologies to the farmers. Dr. M.V. Dhanajaya, Chairman, Farm Management committee proposed a formal vote of thanks. He informed that more than 30,000 farmers representing 17 states of the country visited that fare during three-day proceedings.
