Title of round table : Conogethes punciferalis and allied species : Biosystematics, Biology and management strategies
The genus Conogethes is a large and taxonomically complex group. Species belonging to genus Conogethes are receiving increasing attention because of expanding host range, geographical occupancy and complexity involved in species identification. As such the pest, an internal tissue borer is difficult to manage in fruit orchards and plantations. This insect group is undergoing speciation, genomic changes or evolving into new taxon. So biosystematics, molecular characterisation and management aspects of Conogethes spp. needs to be understood well for better management of this borer pest. In order to collate latest developments, understand the pest and share the information in devising rationale management strategies, a round table discussion on the pest is convened by CRP on Borers in association with Association for Advancement of Pest Management in Horticultural Ecosystems (AAPMHE) on 22/5/2015 at IIHR, Bengaluru.
