ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru is organizing an ICAR sponsored Winter School on “Recent Advances in Post Harvest Management of Fruits, Vegetables and Flowers for Minimization of Quantitative and Qualitative losses”
About the course
The aim of the training program is to give complete exposure to the recent advances in post harvest management of fruits, vegetables and flowers with well-structured theoretical and practical sessions. This Winter School will also provide a platform for discussion and exchange of knowledge and ideas across fellow scientists about technological advancements in postharvest handling, packaging, storage, distribution and ripening/retailing of several horticultural commodities. Efforts will be made to provide hands on training in some of the advanced techniques and visits will be arranged to private pack houses, wholesale markets and modern ripening chambers to expose the participants to the practical PHM operations.
Master’s Degree in Horticulture/ Post Harvest Technology/Food science and Nutrition/Food Microbiology/Plant Physiology/Post harvest Agricultural Engineering/Plant Pathology and related disciplines working not below the rank of Assistant Professor/Scientists and equivalent in the concerned subject under Agricultural Universities/ ICAR Institutes. Applicants who are actively involved in post harvest technology research of horticultural crops or those who would be involved in this area of research in the immediate future will be preferred.

Interested candidates may apply online by registering at CBP Portal (http://cbp.icar.gov.in) following the guidelines given there. After uplosding the signed scanned copy send the hard copy duly forwarded by the employer to the Course Director along with a sum of Rs. 50/- as registration fee (non-refundable) in the form of postal order/DD drawn in favour of Director, ICAR-IIHR payable at Bangalore. Selected candidates will be informed through online CPB portal and e-mail.

Participants will be paid to and fro fare for journey performed by the shortest route by rail or bus (only by public transport) as per their entitlement but restricted to the maximum of AC- II tier train fare as per ICAR norms. If any participant chooses to travel by air, their claim shall be restricted to AC-II tier train fare only. Participants are required to produce originals of the rail/bus/air tickets for claiming TA/DA
Boarding and Lodging
Participants will be provided accommodation, wholesome meals and refreshments. However, local participants will be provided lunch and intersession's refreshments only.
