The Indian Institute of Horticultural Research

(IIHR) library established in 1968 with a few books and journals for the research community to carry out the mandate of the organization has grown into what it is today - with all modern facilities for storage, organization and dissemination of horticultural and related information. It is one of the premier Libraries under ICAR catering to the needs of scientists and scholars.

Besides this, Libraries are also established at Regional Stations of the Institute: Chettalli (Karnataka), Bubaneshwar (Orissa) and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) at Gonikoppal & Hierahalli (Karnataka) with the good collection of books and journals. The in-house activities of Library are fully automated for the effective use. The resources can be accessible at all the Departments in the Institute through LAN. A well set up computer-pool is established to use Library resources, browsing various websites of Agri-Horticultural fields through Internet, Online databases and Online Journals. Circulation of books and documents is carried out using the Bar-code technology and Bar-code user ID cards, which is quite effective & efficient.

The Library has on its role 250 members from Scientific and technical cadres, including Research Associates, Senior Research Fellows and Junior Research Fellows. It houses special publications of USBA, FAO, ISNAR, AVRDC, IBPGR and ICRISAT additionally.
