Off-campus training programme on Improved Flower production technologies” organized by ICAR-IIHR for the tribal farmers of Tamil Nadu under Ainthinai Mission on 30.01.2025.

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) Bengaluru organized an off- campus training program on Improved Flower production technologies” followed by distribution of Bio-inputs like AMC, Neem soap, Pongamia soap and Vegetable special were distributed to the selected tribal beneficiaries of Karumandurai Hills of Salem district of Tamil Nadu. This program was organized under Ainthinai Mission sponsored by Directorate of Tribal Welfare, Govt of Tamil Nadu on January 30, 2025. Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist and PI of the project narrated the objectives and importance of the training and delivered lectures about soil health and its management for successful cultivation of Flower crops. Dr V. Sankar, Principal Scientist and CO-PI and Coordinator of the programme explained about significance of ICAR-IIHR  improved vegetable and flower technologies for increasing the income of the tribal farmers and also he delivered lectures in different aspects of Flower cultivation. Dr H P Sumangala, Principal Scientist and CO-PI delivered lecture about production technologies of flower crops like rose and marigold. At the end, Rose planting materials (Arka Savi and Arka Parimala) and hybrid marigold seeds (Arka bhanu) were distributed to the selected tribal beneficiaries of Karumandurai hills.  This training programme was attended by 21 selected tribal farmers of Salem (Karumandurai Hills) district of Tamil Nadu. This training program was coordinated by Dr H P Sumangala , Principal Scientist, Division of Flower and Medicinal crops, Dr.V.Sankar, Dr.R.Senthil Kumar, and Mr K Suryamurthi from Division of Social Science and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru
