Salient Features

• Growth is vigorous at 2.5 dSm-1 and minimum reduction at 5.0 dSm-1
• Yields reduction at 5.0 dSm-1 was about 25% whereas in Gudur it was 36.2% and in local variety it was 44.5 %.
• Number of fruits and fruit weight is more compared to other two varieties.
• Salinity threshold value is higher (4.6 dSm-1) compared to other two varieties
• The activity of H2O2 detoxifying enzyme catalase increased by 9 fold in 5.0 dSm-1 stressed Tenali where as it was lower in Gudur variety.
