ICAR – Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru has organised a training programme for demonstration farmers on “Mango based cropping system” at Srinivasapura Taluk on 16th Oct, 2020.
As a part of research project, this training was conducted for the benefit of selected farmers from Srinivasapura and Mulabagilu Taluk of Kolar District. Dr. R. Venkattakumar, Head, Division of Social Sciences and Extension highlighted the extension programmes of ICAR-IIHR, Mr. H. T. Balakrishna, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Mango Development Corporation lauded the efforts of IIHR in releasing farmers friendly technologies. Award winning and leading mango grower Mr. K. Sreenivasa Gowda shared his mango farming experience with trainees and requested all the farmers to utilize the services of ICAR-IIHR.
Dr. B. Narayanaswamy, Principal Scientist and PI of RKVY project stressed the farmers to adopt ICAR-IIHR technologies viz., Canopy Management, use of Arka Mango Special, Arka Borer Controller, Arka Fruit Fly Trap, Arka Neem and Pongamia Soaps etc.. to enhance the productivity of mango crop. Suitable mango based vegetable crops such as chilli, tomato, brinjal, french beans and flower crops such as marigold, tube rose and china aster can also be adopted in mango orchards….. he suggested.
A total number of 74 farmers and Department Officials participated in the Training. Dr. B. Narayanaswamy coordinated the programme. Dr. R. Venkattakumar, Kum. H. Harshitha, SRF, Kum. Pushpalatha P., Field Assistant from the Division of Social Sciences and Extension were attended the programme.
