KVK Hirehalli in collaboration with ICAR-IIHR, Vegetable Division conducted the field day on ICM in Tomato at Pallavalli village of Pavagada Taluk on12th March 2021. Dr.M.R.Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IIHR inaugurated the field day programme and stressed the need of adopting the technologies released by IIHR. He also explained about the incubation centres which cater the need of technology transfer. He urged the farmers to use the seed portal developed by ICAR-IIHR. He also asked the farmers to use the Arka Cocopit for better germination and vigour. He also stressed the role of KVKs in collaboration with FPOs for better adoption of modern technologies. Zilla Panchayat member Shri.Channamallappa presided over the function and shared the experience of growing the tomato Arka Abedh hybrid. He also stressed the farmers to use the Arka Abedh variety which is resistant to four diseases. Shri.Shivaprasad, Member, Institute Management Committee, ICAR-IIHR explained the activities to be undertaken by KVK in Pavagada region and stressed the need of implementing the technologies released by ICAR-IIHR. Dr.Madhavi Reddy, Head, Vegetable Division of IIHR explained about varieties released by her division and asked the farmers to adopt these varieties against private hybrids. Dr.A.T.Sadashiva, Retd Head, Vegetable Division of IIHR explained the Arka Abedh hybrid characteristics and their cultivation. Dr.Loganandhan, Head, KVK Hirehalli explained the activities of KVK. Dr.Hanumanthe Gowda, SMS Plant Protection welcomed the gathering and explained the need of Tomato Arka Abedh hybrid demonstration. About 100 farmers participated in the programme.
