A special day-long (06th August 2021) off campus training was organized by ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru in collaboration with KVK of Thiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu. Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training delivered a lecture on "Fruit crop technologies of ICAR-IIHR". This lecture was followed by that of on "Vegetable crop technologies of ICAR-IIHR" lecture, which was delivered by Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training ICAR-IIHR. This training was attended by more than 40 progressive farmers, subject matter specialists of KVK, officials of line departments. Previously, Mr. S. Ramesh, State President, Tamil Nadu Rural Development Institute (TNRDI), inaugurated the programme. Dr. Suresh, the Programme Coordinator and Head, KVK, Thiruvannamalai proposed formal vote of thanks. Method demonstration on canopy management in mango was organized before start of this session on oral presentations.
The ICAR-IIHR released Arka Shubra - Mucuna seeds were distributed to all the farmers who attended the programme for improving the soil fertility of their mango orchards. The staff members of KVK expressed their interest in taking up demonstrations on fruit plants (Arka Kiran, Arka Sahan and Arka Prabath), vegetable crops (tomato, brinjal , chillies and okra) and ornamental crops (marigold, crossandra and tuberose) and Arka Microbial Consortia in future. The off-campus training programme was coordinated by Dr. Ramesh Raja, Senior Scientist from the side of KVK, Vedapuri and Dr. R. Senthil Kumar and Dr. V. Sankar Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training. ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru.
