The Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Bhubaneswar, ICAR-IIHR observed the ‘Hindi Week’ during 7th to 14thSeptember 2023. Dr. Arjamadutta Sarangi, Director, ICAR- Indian Institute of Water management, Bhubaneswar inaugurated the ‘Hindi Week’ program on 7th September 2023. He emphasized the importance of Hindi in National Integration and development of society. Dr. G.C. Acharya, Head, CHES, Bhubaneswar addressed the staff about the importance, necessity, and scope of the Hindi language in day-to-day official work. Dr. Deepa Samant, Scientist, and Nodal Officer, Official Language Implementation Committee briefed the account of activities carried out during the ‘Hindi Week’ celebration. Various competitions viz., Hindi dictation, Hindi translation, Hindi Speech, and Antakshyari were organized for the staff including outsourced and project staff. The valedictory function of the week-long event was organized on 14th September 2023. Dr. Prasanjit Mishra, Dean, Directorate of Extension Education, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar and Dr. Pramod Kumar Panda, Principal Scientist, ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Chief Speaker. Dr. Prasanjit Mishra congratulated all the staff for their active participation in different events and distributed prizes and certificates to the winners and participants of different competitions along with Dr. G. C. Acharya and Dr. Pramod Kumar Panda. Sri Biswanath Paikray, Smt. Rina Pattnayak, and Smt. Swarnam Kar won the first prizes in dictation, translation and speech competition, respectively. The ‘Hindi week’ celebration program was coordinated by Dr. Deepa Samant with the help of Sri Manoj Kumar Pattnaik and Suchitra Behera.
