A special three-day (April 21-23, 2021) training programme on “Papaya Seed Production” was organized for ‘Agrimaa Biosciences’ a private seed production company located in Srirangapatna Taluk, Mandya district in Karnataka at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR), Bangalore. The objective of the programme was to impart skill training on papaya seed production. During the first day, advances in papaya seed productions aspects were dealt by Dr. C. Vasugi, Principal Scientist, Division of Fruit Crops. The participants were taken to papaya field to impart hands on training on bagging, SIB mating and other related seed production aspects. During the second day, the aspects related to harvesting, seed extraction, cleaning and storage aspects were dealt by Dr. Yogesha, Principal Scientist, Division of Vegetable Crops. During the final day, the trainees were taken to seed production unit and nursery for exposing them healthy seedlings production practices. After, the training, the participants felt that they acquired skill pertaining to papaya seed production techniques. This training programme was coordinated by Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training and Dr. C. Vasugi, Principal Scientist, Division of Fruit crops of ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore.
