Agri Business Incubation, a TBI of ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) had organized Two days Entrepreneurship Development Programme on IIHR Technologies to Promote Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment”, from 27th to 28th June 2023. Dr .M. Pitchaimuthu, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer, BPD Unit, ICAR – IIHR welcomed the dignitaries and the participants. Dr S.K Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR in his presidential address emphasized on becoming entrepreneurs through various ICAR-IIHR technologies and also thrown light on women empowerment through Horti business. Training schedule included series of lectures such as, different mushroom cultivation, sustainable utilization of flower wastes for women entrepreneurship and empowering entrepreneur with dried flower skills. Dr. C. Chandrashekar, Senior Scientist, explained about Mushroom Cultivation and RTF bags, Dr Sangama (Rtd), Principal Scientist and Dr G.R. Smitha, Senior Scientist both explained about Dry flower Technology and Utilization of flower wastes and Incense stick making. Training was designed in such way that participants should gain practical knowledge and experience about different technologies of ICAR-IIHR.
Participants also visited the incubation facility of ABI and BESST-HORT and sales counter of ICAR-IIHR i.e. ATIC under the supervision of Dr. Harish Kumar, Scientist, Div. of Social Sciences and Training. This programme had attended by five women of participants from different parts of the country. The training concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants and vote of thanks by Dr. Umamaheshwari, Senior Scientist and member secretary, Div. of Crop Protection. The entire programme was coordinated by ITMU and BPD Unit, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru.
