Activities carried out at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonikoppal during lockdown period

 

• Procurement of vegetables and fruits directly from farmers: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonikoppal in collaboration with Puthari Farmers Producers Organization (FPO) procured 16 tonnes of different vegetables and fruits directly from farmers of Kodagu and nearby Mysuru district, for the benefit of more than 80 farmers and avoided distress sale of vegetables. The farmers were paid 20 percent higher prices compared to prevailing market prices.
• Supply of fresh fruits and vegetables was made available at KVK campus through Puthari FPO for consumers at very competitive rates. More than 1000 consumers have purchased and appreciated the vegetables and fruits directly from farmers.
• Operation of Agricultural inputs Retail outlet at KVK operated by FPO: Agricultural inputs retail outlet has been functioning in KVK campus. More than 500 farmers purchased critical inputs like plant protection chemicals, nutrient products, agricultural machinery etc from Agricultural retail outlet operated by Puthari FPO at KVK campus.
• ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonikoppal scientists gave two  Radio Talk on government advisories for farmers while working in field and harvesting operations, and providing support to the farmers in marketing of agri-produce,  through All India Radio - Madikkeri, which covered more than 20000 audience.
• SMS advisories were sent to  around 5000 farmers were sent through mKisan Portal on different agricultural measures from Govt of India and state government
• Information regarding ”Arogya Setu” mobile app and its advantages was sent to more than 500 farmers through different social media groups
• ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gonikoppal sent general crop and weather based advisories for farmers through different social media groups and KVK website.
• A separate link in KVK website has been opened for farmers to list their farm produce ready for harvest along with farmers details to facilitate sale of their produce. About 11 farmers were facilitated in sale of their produce.
• KVK scientists attended to about 120 phone queries and more than 60 queries through their different whatsapp groups.
• Ten Weather based farm advisories were sent to more than 1000 farmers directly through different whatsapp groups.
