The ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Institute (IIHR) Bangalore organized training programme on “ICAR-IIHR Technologies suitable to cultivate Avocado for the farmers of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu” at Dharapuram on 1st September 2024. The programme was started with welcome address by Sri. Tamil Maran, Organising secretary of the event Cauvery calling -Isha outreach followed by presentation by farmers and Scientist of IISR, Calicut on Nutmeg cultivation. Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist presented suitable ICAR-IIHR technologies for growing Avocado in Tropical plains of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Sri M. P. Saminathan, Honourable Minister for Information & Publicity in the 16th Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu is the Chief guest for the programme. He urged the farmers to utilize the opportunity of growing new crop and advised the farmers to adopt IIHR farmers friendly technologies suitable for soil and plant health management. The mega programme was attended by 7000 farmers, 15,713 views through online (you tube) and 366 likes. This programme was coordinated by Dr. R.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru and Dr. Sankaran, Head, Division of Fruit crops, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru , in collaboration with Cauvery calling- Isha Outreach, Coimbatore.
