ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) in collaboration with KVK Gangavati organized Capacity building programme of seed production and demonstration of marigold crop Production, Popularization of IIHR technologies to the Scheduled Caste farmers of Koppala district during 27.07.2023.
Dr. Jyothi R. Scientist (Horticulture) KVK Gangavathi extended a warm welcome to the farmers and explained about the KVK activities. Dr. Sumangala H.P. Principal Scientist and member SCSP explained about the Nursery raising, production technology and different hybrids of Marigold. Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist and Nodal officer SCSP, explained about the Vegetable seed kit and Soil health management. Dr. V.K. Jayaraghavendra Rao, Head Social Sciences & Training, ICAR-IIHR explained about ICAR-IIHR activities. Dr, Kavaita, Scientist (Home science) explained about the importance of Nutri Garden in the backyard. During the program 12,000 marigold seedlings of ARKA ABHI,SHUBA,VIBHA and BHANU were distributed among farmers. And Vegetable seed kit and Mucuna Seeds were also distributed. This programme was coordinated by Dr. H.P. Sumangala ,Principal Scientist Division of Flower and Medicinal Crops and Dr R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Science and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore, which was attended by 60 beneficiaries.
