A capacity building programme on ICAR–IIHR technologies was organized under SCSP and TSP special programmes of ICAR –IIHR, Bengaluru in collaboration with ICAR-KAU, Thrissur, Kerala and ATARI -XI, Bangalore on 11th October 2023.
Dr. Merry Regina, Programme Coordinator & Head, ICAR-KVK, Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur welcomed the gathering and elucidated the role of TSP programmes in serving the farming community through agricultural extension activities. It was followed by Presidential address by Dr.Jacob John, Director of Extension,Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur whoelucidated the importance of advanced IIHR technologies to improve livelihood of tribal farmers.
Prof. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore delivered the inaugural address and enlightened the farmers about ICAR–IIHR technologies for doubling the farmers income. The ICAR-IIHR inputs viz., vegetable seeds, planting material, fruit harvesters, biofertilizers and biopesticides were distributed to tribal farmers. Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist, Div. of Social Sciences & Training and Dr.R. Senthilkumar,Principal Scientist, Div. of Social Sciences &Training interacted with farmers and explained the ICAR-IIHR TSP and SCSP activities and ICAR-IIHR vegetable and fruit crop technologies.
The programme ended with concluding remarks and vote of thanks. The entire programme was co-ordinated by Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist and Nodal Officer (TSP), ICAR-IIHR and Dr.R. Senthilkumar, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer (SCSP), ICAR–IIHR, Bengaluru. Around 200 SC/ST farmers were benefitted by this programme. A wide publicity was given to this programme through newspapers in Malayalam.
