The ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Hessarghatta, Bengaluru has celebrated the Gandhi Jayanthi and Swachhta Bharat Diwas @ 2024 on 02.10.2024 at G S Randhwa Auditorium with great enthusiasm and spirit. The programe was started with ICAR song, IIHR song, SBM song followed by Mahatma Gandhiji Geeth. The Director, Guests and School Children, Swachh Bharath Nodal officer Dr V.Sankar and the team paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. On the occasion, Dr. Venkataravanppa, Senior Scientist welcomed the gathering. Dr.V.Sankar, Nodal Officer (Swachh Bharat Mission) enlightened the essence of celebrating Gandhi Jayanthi and Swachhta Bharat Diwas and the details of various Swachh Bharath Activities conducted byIIHR from September 15 th – October 1st,2024 were presented. The Director Dr.T.K.Behera emphasised that the institute is continuously implementing the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi by uplifting the weaker sections of society through centrally funded projects, massive cleanliness drives in offices, research fields and surrounding area. He urged the students for keeping the mind clean and follow ethical values in personal and social life to achieve the targets. He also emphasized the farmers for use of IIHR friendly technologies for doubling the farm income. The Chief Guest of the function, Mrs. R. Lalitha, President, Hurullichickanhalli, Gram Panchayat appreciated ICAR-IIHR efforts towards cleanliness drive outside the campus also particularly in Schools, Temples, Bank, Post Office, Hospital and other public places etc and opined that gram panchayat staff will also be ready to coordinate with IIHR team whenever cleanliness drive will happen. Mr.M. Kavin, Branch Manager, SBI, Hessraghatta also admired Swachh Bharath works of IIHR and explained about financial prosperity for sanitation workers. Mr. Chennakeshava, Head Post Master, Hessraghatta lake sub post office briefed about various postal schemes and Mrs R. Ratna Prabha, Chief Medical Officer, PHC emphsized about usefulness of various Health schemes relevant to sanitation workers and farm labourers.
The Director, ICAR-IIHR, distributed prizes to winners & participants of the drawings, essay and plastic waste disposal collection competitions conducted for school and college students and also for sanitation workers. Further he awarded the best sanitation workers of the Institute and felicitated all housekeeping personnel of the Institute. This programe was concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Vijaykumar, AAO. This programe was attended by more than 150 participants including students, school children’s, Teachers, Head master and Principal from various schools and college, IIHR Staff, Gram Panchayat Members from Hurullichickenahalli, Housekeeping workers, outsourcing staff, project personnel’s and contractual workers, farm labourers, farmers...etc.
Swachhata Hi Sewa-2024 Special Campaign, Gandhi Jayanthi and Swachh Bharat Diwas observed at ICAR-IIHR-Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Chettalli, Kodagu
The Swachhata Hi Sewa-2024 special campaign was observed from 15th September to 1st October, 2024 at ICAR-IIHR-Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Chettalli, Kodagu. During this special campaign various events were organized to create awareness among the public, station staff, students etc. Major events were organized that included Swachhata pledge taking, erection of swachhata banners and slogans in public places, mega cleanliness drives around public places, roads, school premises and surrounding office buildings, awareness creation drive to the public and school students, special awareness rallies involving school students, teachers, tree plantation drives, preventive health check-up camp for sanitation workers and other workers, special walkathon, cleaning religious places, waste recycling and reuse campaign, composting etc. A black spot had been identified and beautified; the process of making Community Park is in progress.
“Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Diwas” was celebrated at ICAR-IIHR-CHES, 2024 on 2nd October, 2024. Flag hoisting followed by flower tribute to Shri Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by the Guests and the staff. Dr. Rajendiran S, Senior Scientist & Head (I/c), addressed the gathering and talked on Gandhiji and his life principles, his keenness towards Swachhata, and reiterated Gandhiji’s top 10 quotes. The Chief Guest, Dr. RamShan, Primary Health Centre, Chettalli gave speech on simple and day to day health care and maintenance. Dr. Muralidhara B.M., Scientist, talked on importance of Swachhata and its benefits. Mr. Shivaraj, Technician gave speech on “Gandhiji and Swachhata”. Further Swachhata Cultural Fest was organized and swachhata related acts, dance, singing, etc. were performed by the family members of CHES, Chettalli Staff. Felicitation to the chief guest, and the sanitation workers, and the prizes for office staff those who performed well in Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign, winners of Walkathon and performers of Swachhata Cultural Fest were performed. The programme was ended with formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rani A.T.
