Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar celebrated ‘Hindi Week’ from 14th – 21st September, 2020 to promote Hindi language in office activities and communication. Dr. P. Srinivas, Principal Scientist, CHES inaugurated the Hindi week and highlighted the significance of Hindi as national language and its importance for development of society. He also emphasised the importance of language for interpersonal relations and motivated staffs for developing multilingual skill. During the celebration of Hindi Week, various competitions like reading, Extempore, Debate, Essay, singing competitions in hindi language were organized among all the staff including contractual, out-sourced staff etc. The competitions were judged by Dr. P Srinivas, Dr. K. Kishore, Dr. D. Samant and Dr. M. Kumari. All the events were participated by the staff with great enthusiasm. The valedictory function of week-long event was organized on September 21st, 2020 in the gracious presence of Dr. G C Acharya, Head (I/C) CHES (ICAR-IIHR). Dr. K. Kishore welcomed the guests and congratulated all the staff for their active participation in different events. Dr. Meenu Kumari briefed the gathering about various activities and competitions held during “Hindi Week”. The certificates and prizes were distributed to the winners by Dr. G C Acharya, Principal Scientist & Head. He also appreciated the efforts made by all staff of the station towards use of Hindi language in day to day communication.
At the end of the program, Mrs. Rina Pattnaik proposed the vote of thanks. The program was co-ordinated by Dr. Meenu Kumari (Scientist & Chairperson, Hindi language and official Implementation committee, CHES) with the active support of Dr. K. Kishore (Principal Scientist & member), Mrs. Rina Pattnaik (AFAO & member) and Mrs. S. Pradhan (PA & member secretary).
