Hindi Week was celebrated from 14 to 21 September 2021 at Indian Horticultural Research Institute, Bangalore. Many competitions were organized during this period. The opening ceremony of Hindi Week took place on 14 September 2021. Chief guest was Senior General Manager B. H. E. L. Bangalore Shri Nirmal Pandey. The inagural program was presided over by Dr. Devi Sharma, Incharge Director, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research. In his remarks, the chief guest of the program, Mr. Pandey ji suggested about the confluence of regional languages as well as national language and official language, so that language and culture should also be promoted in the region. The chief guest expressed his concern about progressive deterioration of Indian language and culture from generation to generation and also told about the importance of words used in daily life through Hindi idioms. He also appealed to speak Hindi through the use of short poems and to increase its use in daily activities and government work.
In his presidential speech, Dr. Devi Sharma also presented his views related to the development of Hindi. The Finance and Accounts Officer of the institute, Mr. KG Jagadeesan, also described Hindi as a simple and rich language and motivated the employees of the institute to use Hindi more and more in official work. Principal Scientist Dr. Anil Kumar Nair welcomed the Chief Guest and the members present in the meeting and the Chairman of Hindi Week Organizing Committee and Principal Scientist Dr. Ravi Bhushan Tiwari gave vote of thanks.
Anil Kumar Nair read out the pledge issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. During this program, Dr. P.C. Tripathi, Principal Scientist read out the message sent by Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon'ble Agriculture Minister, Government of India, followed by Dr. K. K. Upreti, Principal Scientist read the message sent by Director General ICAR Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra. Various competitions were also organized during this week long program at Indian Horticultural Research Institute such as Hindi vocabulary and noting, short speech, poem recitation and technical presentation in Hindi by PhD students. A pre-written Hindi essay was also included. Apart from this, incentive awards were also given to the employees of the institute for doing maximum work in Hindi. The valedictory function of Hindi week in the institute was held on 21st September 2021 during which Mr. KB Prem Tanmay was chief guest.
