An Off-campus training cum Input Distribution for Dolichos varietal demonstration was organized under RKVY project on “Dissemination of horticultural production technologies through integrated extension approach for enhancing livelihood of farming community” for the farmers at Gaddige village, Hunsur Taluk, Mysuru on 29th October, 2021. It was attended by around 60 farmers from the village.
Dr.R.Venkattakumar, Principal Scientist and Head (I/c), Division of Social Sciences and Training and PI of RKVY project welcomed the farmers and delivered the introductory remarks about the Project and services of IIHR. Dr.Pallavi, HM, Assistant Professor from College of Horticulture. Mysuru delivered a lecture on recommended varieties and cultivation practices for pole Dolichos varieties. Dr.Sandeep Kumar, GM, Scientist (Plant Pathology) delivered a lecture on recommended Plant Protection Practices for Dolichos. Mrs. Nethravathi, SADH from Hunsur explained about the schemes of horticulture department for the benefit of farmers. The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.M.Thangam, Principal Scientist (Vegetable Science).
The inputs for the demonstration viz., seeds of Arka Vistar, Arka Krishna, required fertilizers and Plant protection chemicals for 10 acres of land were distributed to the beneficiary farmers including farmers belonging to Scheduled Caste. The programme was organized in collaboration with The Organization for the Development of People (ODP), Mysuru. The training cum input distribution was coordinated by Dr.M.Thangam, and Dr R Venkattakumar.
