A special one day (22.11.2021) online Training programme on Advances in Horticultural technologies for KVK officials and farmers in Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram districts of Tamil Nadu was organized by ICAR-IIHR, Bengalore. The objective of the programme was to create awareness about Recent ICAR-IIHR technologies pertaining to fruits, vegetables and plant health management to the KVK officials and farmers of Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts, Tamil Nadu. The programme started with welcome address by Dr.Selvaraj, Scientist, KVK, Kattupakkam, Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu. Followed by presentation on ICAR-IIHR fruit crop technologies which was delivered by Dr.R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist. After that Dr.V.Sankar, Principal Scientist delivered lecture on Advances in vegetable crops cultivation and improved production technologies developed by ICAR-IIHR. At the end of each lecture there was an interaction meeting where in doubts raised by the farmers were cleared. At the end, scientists emphasized the KVK officials and progressive farmers to take up demonstration of ICAR-IIHR released fruit and vegetables varieties and hybrids; and also emphasized to make use of IIHR seed portal for purchase of seeds and planting materials. This training programme was coordinated by Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Dr.V.Sankar, and Principal scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore. This programme was attended by 45 participants including 10 KVK officials.
