To commemorate 75th Independence Day, ICAR-IIHR organized a tree planting programme at the campus of Border Security Force (BSF), Bengaluru on 13.08.2022 under RKVY project. Dr. V.K.J. Rao, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training and Dr. C. Vasugi, Principal Scientist (Hort.), Division of Fruit crops coordinated the programme in collaboration with the officials of Border Security Force, Sh. Rajiv Vatsraj, Comdt (Trg.), Sh. R.S. Bohra, 2IC and Sh. Harshit Panwar, AC, BSF
During this programme, improved varieties of fruits viz., guava (Arka Kiran, Arka Poorna), avocado (Arka Supreme), mango (Mallika), dragon fruit and jamun (Doobdal) were planted in the BSF, Campus. ICAR-IIHR products like Arka Herbiwash and Arka vegetable seed kit were also distributed. During the programme Dr. V.K.J. Rao and Dr. C. Vasugi highlighted the importance of fruit crops and its nutritional value. It was further elaborated by Dr. C. Vasugi. She briefed about the production technologies including canopy management, integrated nutrient management, integrated pest and disease management and processed products developed from the Institute for the tropical fruit crops. This programme was attended by more than 40 officers of Border Security Force (BSF), Sathanur and got benefitted in the programme.
