A special one day (13.08.2020) Training programme on topic High value fruits and vegetables for ATMA beneficiaries from 10 different blocks in Coimbatore districts of Tamil Nadu was organized by ICAR-IIHR, Bengalore. The objective of the programme was to create awareness about ICAR-IIHR technologies especially high value fruits and vegetables to the ATMA beneficiaries Coimbatore district Tamil Nadu. The programme was started with welcome address by Tmt.Nirmala, Assistant Director of Agriculture, SS.Kulam, Coimbatore, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, who emphasized the objective of the training and further she conveyed to the beneficiaries that ICAR-IIHR technologies will be very much useful for increasing the income of the farmers. Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist delivered a lecture on Farmer friendly technologies of ICAR-IIHR and High value fruit crops suitable for their region and Dr.V.Sankar, Principal Scientist delivered lecture on High value vegetable crops and improved production technologies developed by ICAR-IIHR. After the end of lectures, there was an interaction meeting where in doubts raised by the farmers were cleared. At the end, scientists were emphasized to the department officials and progressive farmers to take up demonstration of ICAR-IIHR released fruit and vegetables varieties and hybrids also emphasized to make use of IIHR seed portal for purchase of seeds and planting materials. This training programme was coordinated by Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Dr.V.Sankar, Principal scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore.
