IIHR Bengaluru: One day Awareness camp on WASTE to WEALTH
The awareness camp on waste to wealth was conducted on 22nd December 2020, around 100 farmers attended the programme. It was conducted by the Division of Social Science and Training from 11 am to 5 pm at Dr R Arunachalam Trust campus Avaregere, BIDADI, town, Ramanagara district, KARNATAKA
The program started with the inaugural function and Dr R Venkattakumar, PS& Head, SOSST, IIHR delivered the welcome address, and Dr P Nandeesha PS and Nodal officer Swachh Bharat briefed about WEALTH from WASTE and how that in the Swachh Bharat abhiyaan, it served the dual objective of keeping the country clean, whilst converting waste to useful nutritious organic manure and compost thereby increasing the productivity of our soils. The Chief Guest Dr M R Dinesh Director ICAR-IIHR in his message briefed about the hortipreneurial opportunities at IIHR with around 300 technologies having the scope and potential for commercialization under the licensing process, and further he stressed that IIHR had come out with the Arka decomposer and Arka microbial consortium which incorporated beneficial microbes which shortened the composting time and better bio degradation. In his presidential remarks’ Dr Arunachalam said that farmers and youth should take up entrepreneurial activities and earn better incomes and must have scientific outlook for sustainable livelihoods and keeping the country clean. The inaugural program ended with the Vote of Thanks by Mr Sathish CEO, Arunachalam Trust, who thanked all the stake holders and farmers for attending the program and taking benefit of the awareness camp.
Three technical sessions were conducted on Arka Fermented Cocopeat, Composting of farm residues and domestic wet waste, & Vermicomposting, by the following resource persons Dr G. Selvakumar , Dr. D. Kalaivanan,, Dr B. L. Manjunath Principal Scientists & Dr G. Chetan Kumar,Scientist,
Dr Rupa, and Dr L R Varakshmi ,Principal Scientist IIHR & Dr H B Raghupathy Head NRM /Principal Scientist IIHR attended the program along with Dr Atheequlla, Scientist IIHR , Dr B Narayanswamy,Principal Scientist IIHR gave the publicity and media support, Dr V K Jayaraghavendra Rao Principal scientist Coordinated the entire program.
CHES Chettalli: Today the seventh day of Swachhta Pakhwada 2020 programme, sanitation and cleaning of institute farm roads were performed by removing polythene, plastic, paper, clothes, and glass wastes present in the road sides involving all the scientific, technical, skilled support staff of CHES, Chettalli.
