Powder-puff aster types possess long, tubular and narrow disc florets of 1.5-2 inches length and arranged in multiple rows leading to problems of pollen viability, heterostyly and protandry resulting in poor seed set. Foliar sprays of boric acid (0.1%) twice (first spray at one month after planting and second spray after 15 days ) recorded higher seed yield of 550kg/ha.
