One day training programme has been organised by ICAR- India Institute of Horticultural Research, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru on the topic “Hortibased Integrated Cropping System” at Kurubarahalli of Ramanagara District on 17th Oct 2020.
This training programme was a part of Research project related to the Mango Based Integrated Farming Systems, for the selected demonstration farmers of Ramanagara Taluk. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Thyagaraju, Editor of Abharana Newspaper and progressive farmer of Ramanagara. Dr. R. Venkattakumar Head, Division of Social Sciences & Extension, Mr. Shankar SADH, Mr. Harsha ADH, AHOs.. Mr. Siddaganagaiah, Smt. Neethu and Mr. Shivakumar from Department of Horticulture, Ramanagara selected demonstration farmers of Kurubarahalli and Padarahalli were attended the programme.
Mr. Thyagaraju who visited ICAR-IIHR many a times and benefited from our technologies appreciated the efforts of the scientists and suggested all the farmers to utilize the services and adopt new interventions in their mango gardens, in his inaugural address. Dr. R. Venkattakumar highlighted the facilities and extension programs of ICAR-IIHR and suggested the farmers to plan for their demonstrations on new technologies to reap the economic benefits.
Dr. B Narayanaswamy Principal Scientist and PI of the RKVY Project who Coordinated the training programme highlighted the importance of mango based cropping as well as farming systems to enhance the profitability. He suggested vegetable crops viz., chilli, bendi, brinjal and tomato and ornamental crops viz., marigold, crossandra, tuberose and china aster as inter crops in mango gardens.
A total number of 63 farmers, department officials and participants from ICAR-IIHR Miss. H. Harshitha and Miss. Pushpalatha P. were attended the programme.
